Build and Design

The designers at Asus was not an easy task to create a notebook ultra attractive by making it cheaper to produce. The case seams reasonably combine with tight tolerances, plastics feel thick (but the pearl-like look cheap white plastic) and the display hinges are molded into the body with battery. Closure of the screen, you will find surprisingly little coverage keyboard surface and even smaller resting below the touchpad display and speakers recessed. In short, the quality of construction is quite high, despite the low cost.




The design of the PC Eee is something really unique. Weighing barely two pounds and provides a level of performance similar to a full budget computer, the only laptop which approximates "directly" compete with the PC is the Fujitsu LifeBook Eee U810… Tablet PC that sells for more $ 1000 at the time of this writing. The next closest competitor in the PC would Eee ultraportables traditional Toshiba Portege R500 (2000 $) and the Sony VAIO TZ ($ 3000).

It is true that the more expensive rivals come preloaded with Microsoft Windows XP or Vista and feature a range of technical features superior… but our review of the PC Eee Asus shows that little white titan packs an impressive punch.

Screen

The screen is 7 inches diagonally with LED backlighting and has a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels. For the sake of reference, below is what you can see when you pull up the homepage of the site you are about time:



Eee the PC might not have a glossy, high-contrast display, like most notebooks made in the past year, but the backlight bright, and even helps make for a pleasant reading experience. We even found the quality of color more than sufficient for viewing movies or videos You Tube.

Operating system and software

Asus with Xandros team to develop a custom version of the Linux operating system for the new PC Eee. Microsoft Windows requires a large amount of storage space on the tiny 4GB SSD, and the additional costs of installing Windows authentic reportedly added to final sale price of the PC Eee. Despite the lack of Microsoft software Eee the PC is remarkably easy to use. Xandros developed a point-and-click user interface that looks and acts like Windows… but easier.
